About Me

I am an Okie at heart and lived there most of my life, but feel like I was destined to be a South Dakotan which is where I've lived the past 2 years.  I am married to a fun guy, full of laughter and love; this July will be our 5 year anniversary.  In March 2013 I became a mom to a rambunctious, willful, blond haired boy, who looks just like his papa and is teaching me the true meaning of love.

I am a scientist by trade, and although I used to work in an actual science lab, my kitchen is now the lab, the counter top my work bench and the apron my lab coat.  I love like to cook, bake, try new recipes, new foods, new flavors, and I love like to eat!  I love like a clean, organized house but I don't like doing dishes and I am a procrastinator when it comes to mopping.  I love like to exercise, especially running.  I have been a runner for as long as I remember and I hope to be for a very long time.  I love like to eat meals outside, garden, ride bikes, walk the dogs, watch football, make spontaneous trips, metaphorically turn lemons into lemonade and live life as an adventure.  I am an avid over user of the word love and I'm trying to tone it down. :)

My full time job is raising our son so I started this blog to reconnect with the adult world.  When I started writing I didn't know exactly what it would be about, and I'm still figuring that out.  I do know that Faith in God always comes first, Family second, then I prefer to add in a little Food & Football to keep things delicious & interesting. Those are my F's of Life!

Fun Facts:
  • My husband and I's engagement was less than 3 months.
  • I hated cottage cheese until I became pregnant, now it's a staple.
  • I have run 3 half-marathons and 1 full-marathon (and hope to run more, half's that is).
  • We have 2 dogs, Pete & Lilly, both rescue dogs, both mutts, both will lick you to death.
  • My husband and I were both taught to ski at the age of 4.  We want to pass that on.
  • The first year of our marriage I never made the same meal twice.
  • I majored in Biochemistry & worked in a cancer research lab 4 years post-college.
  • My husband calls me the Mad Scientist because of the way I cook.
